Yes, you’ve mentioned being a traditionalist. I also happen to know that you’re deeply rational. So my question is how you arrived at being a traditionalist with respect to such matters. Was it through a rational consideration of the options from a functional perspective? (Does tapping into an established tradition does some of the work for you, like borrowed scenery in a Japanese garden?) Or is it an aesthetic preference? (Perhaps any given detail is arbitrary and tradition works no better than anything else but tradition has depth and history.) Something else?

As for being a traditionalist, it’s mostly on matters of detail.
